At BlackSage Bodyworks, we embrace a philosophy of profound holistic healing rooted in the synergy of herbal medicine and therapeutic bodywork. Our journey began with a deep-seated commitment to offer comprehensive wellness therapies that harmonize ancient wisdom with modern practices.
Central to our ethos is the name "BlackSage," derived from Salvia mellifera, esteemed by the Chumash people for its dual role in alleviating physical ailments and purifying energies. This botanical ally symbolizes our dedication to harnessing nature's gifts in fostering wellness.
Bodywork, a cornerstone of our practice, embodies integrative medicine techniques aimed at manipulating the body to restore balance. Through therapeutic massage, we confront musculoskeletal dysfunctions with precision, acknowledging the intricate relationship between physical discomfort and deeper energetic imbalances.
Our mission at BlackSage Bodyworks is to skillfully nurture the innate healing capacities within every individual. We recognize that true healing unfolds through a multifaceted journey—one that demands embracing discomfort to unearth the root causes of imbalance. This process is not linear; it is a profound exploration requiring patience, understanding, and a holistic approach that blends ancient wisdom with contemporary scientific insights.
As facilitators of healing, our therapists are steadfast companions in your wellness journey, meeting you with compassion and expertise, moment by moment. We provide a sanctuary where powerful therapeutic interventions converge with serene tranquility, fostering an environment conducive to deep healing.
At BlackSage Bodyworks, we believe in the transformative power of holistic healing—where the synergy of herbal remedies and therapeutic touch not only addresses symptoms but also cultivates profound, lasting wellness.

This is YOUR session – and the experience all yours. Your therapist wants you to enjoy every minute and benefit as much as possible from the time you spend with them. If you would like anything changed – the pressure, areas worked, position, temperature, music, etc… speak up! We ask for open and clear communication as this is a consent based therapy. You will not hurt your therapists’ feelings by asking for something that will make you feel more comfortable.
You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a top sheet. Regardless if you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are always properly covered.
In general, there are few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. Injuries or physical trauma within 72 hours of your session does need to be communicated PRIOR to your session. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, your massage therapists will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.
